Title: EDITORIAL; Vote 'YES' for a better library

Who's against it? Well, there's Dr. Frank Simon, who has emerged with his friends from the cave of intolerance, long enough to claim that it will give your libraries "another $38 million per year to promote anti-Christian thinking." That's just not true, and you know it. That false charge against our community's library system, and the librarians, is character assassination. Attacking libraries is what despots do.

Then there's politically ambitious Chris Thieneman, who may have learned something about football while playing in Saskatchewan, Sacramento and Birmingham, but who obviously needs to read the rule book for public issue campaigns such as this. Knowing full well that their charges wouldn't be taken up before Tuesday, he and his buddies complained to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance about disclaimers they said should have been printed on Libraries Yes! yard signs and brochures. They even complained about the yard signs congratulating kids who read at least 10 books last summer — signs that say A Library Champion Lives Here. They called these nice words of encouragement for young readers "barely disguised political advocacy."

It's possible to debate seriously the differences between the plan that's on the ballot and Mr. Heiner's suggested approach. However, Mr. Thieneman's team should be called for some combination of false start, delay of game, unsportsmanlike conduct and pass interference.

Eyes just need a place to store a X wife and guess whart HUD 202 elderly, yawls woodn't have to worry about the gov'mint paying yawls rents if yews had voted correctly. Whatz the war costing you?

National Homeless Violence Report

THE NEW MINORITY.............

2006 NHC Violence against the Homeless Report

BIG FILE ___ don't miss page 26.

In the last six years, the National Coalition for the Homeless has witnessed a significant increase in violent attacks on homeless people, with 189 such attacks resulting in death. The age group primarily responsible for these crimes on America’s homeless population is teenagers.

If any other minority group reported hate crime homicide numbers this high there would be a national outcry for justice.
